Born in Calabria, Italy and arriving in the United States in 1922, Gualtieri was a prominent anti-Communist, anti-Fascist, and socialist. He edited several Italian-language publications, including Il Proletario (under the pseudonymn Enotrio Greco), "La Stampa Libera," "Il Mondo," and "Nazioni Unite". Girolamo Valenti (1893-1958) was an anti-fascist, anti-communist Italian-American labor leader, socialist, and editor. He was born in Valguarnera, Sicily, and came to the United States in 1911.
